Analyzing Numerical Requirements
A powerful feature of Cognition Cockpit software is its ability treat requirements and parameters as true numerical entities with ranges and tolerances. Cockpit will track these requirements and predict their behavior through two methods:
Cockpit offers several "out of the box" options to create transfer functions for your requirements management or critical parameter management project. Listed  below are options you have to create true links and share data between systems for on the fly analysis of the performance of your system:
1. Users type a direct numerical entry (including variation) as a current design value for a requirement.  Cockpit uses its own internal analytical engine to compare the entry against the requirement's target value. The result is a mathematical measure of performance for the requirement. Cockpit will provide a design margin, Cpk, PNC, DPMO, Z Score, or whatever metric is appropriate for your system to show the current behavior for a requirement.
2. Users define one or more specific transfer functions to calculate the predicted values for a requirement. This may use one or more external tools that link with Cockpit. These tools will take inputs from the Cockpit (such as lower level requirements or critical parameters) and feed them to the external tools for analysis. When the analysis is complete, Cockpit links back the results for the calculated value for the requirement. Cockpit will provide a design margin, Cpk, PNC, DPMO, Z Score, or whatever metric is appropriate for your system to show the current behavior for a requirement.

Of course, Cognition is always willing to look at other ways to save time and money during the product development process. If you use some other tool for analysis let me know and we can investigate a link for your environment.
